285811 Agitator Repair Kit – For Whirlpool & Kenmore Washer
The 285811 Agitator Repair Kit is designed to spin the clothes during a wash cycle. If your washing machine will not agitate, spin, or shakes and/or is noisy, you may need to purchase the agitator repair kit. The agitator kit is most commonly used if the top part of the agitator is not moving correctly but the bottom is. This kit includes all pieces shown in the photo plus the thrust spacer, inner cap seal, and washer. You may need agitator grease for this repair.

The part is fine except it is the wrong one. Apparently there are short and medium lengths of this thing. Mine requires the medium but this one is the short version. The black collar is not interchangeable between the two units and that was the part I needed. So why 2 stars? Simply because in this day of computers I should have a way to know before I buy if the part will fit or not. I know my washer model and serial number. Parts of the kit worked. Used the new dogs and my old dog cage and bearing cap. The dog holder was not correct nor was the thrust washer and black bearing hold down piece. The rubber screw washer seemed a bit small. Looked it up as compatible for my Whirpool LSQ8243HQ0. Had to reuse old parts that leave me with my fingers crossed. The dog cage in your pic stands proud or tall, original one was half the height. Even though I did use the new dog cage when I tried to assemble it I could not…
