The old kitchen had a recirculating vent, which was largely ineffective. This hood operates as advertised, and seems to be able to handle whatever I throw at it, including smoky wok meals. It runs surprisingly quietly, and all the fumes go up the chimney without any spill-over. The controls work well and have a nice feel. Early Outlook Very Positive I had the Tatsumaki 30″ TA-395 installed into a house I’m moving into next week, so while I have seen it and tested it’s operation, I haven’t had a chance to put it through it’s paces yet, thus just 4 stars, for now. But I’ll give you a couple of first impressions:1. Boy, is it powerful! It is a bit loud at high speed, but I don’t think I’ll need to crank it up that high too often.
