Classic, simple design is best This simple design is the best for a rice cooker. You’ll see that the lid is not attached to the appliance itself and the rice cooking insert and steamer aren’t, either. This is what you want. Everything that comes in contact with food can take a dunk in soapy water or sit in the dishwasher. Other models, fancier models, have the lid on a hinge and attach to the appliance itself. That’s a terrible design because you have to clean the lid by hand, especially the plastic gasket that goes around…
I really like my rice cooker I really like my rice cooker. As long as I’m careful to follow the included measurements guide (rice with not enough water added will be crunchy and browned on the bottom, rice with too much water will be mushy) I’ve made white and brown rice, and quinoa.I don’t do more than 6 cups dry, when I tried 7 with quinoa it overflowed a bit, but 6 comes out perfect every time and is enough to feed 6 hungry people. I really like the steamer as well, veggies come out well cooked, and clean up is so easy…
Buying a bigger one for several reasons. -I wanted a larger unit with enough room for the rice to expand without pushing up the tray and lid, breaking the heat seal.-This model hasn’t scorched the rice yet like my old one, it peels right off the teflon.-Brown rice needs 17-20% more water in this model than my smaller one.-Brown rice cooks slightly faster than the old one.-The tray holes are HUUUUUGE; the tray needs a second tray inside with small holes to keep small items from falling into the cooker (see…
