Gets Really Hot (good), but Spits at times (bad) My 15+ year old Rowenta still works, but the sole plate is pretty much trashed. After trying to clean it and failing, I realized the coating was actually peeling off the sole plate. And I was a very bad iron-owner, not emptying the water reservoir and using hard tap water (eek) and all kinds of calcium deposits built up. I haven’t used this iron much, as most of my clothes do not need it. However, for my Brooklinen sheets and tablecloths for our recent wedding, it worked terrific. It’s nice to have a quality iron after years of using a cheaply made, leaking iron that never was hot enough. As almost all of the reviews have stated, you can barely see the water level in the reservoir, so that is a negative. I just hold mine up to the light so I can barely see if it needs a refill.
