Buy a More Efficient Compactor I have owned a 12″ Broan 1050 trash compactor for five years at my previous home and loved it, which is why I decided to stick with the Brand. Unfortunately, I am dissppointed in this new version after being spoiled by earlier models.The quality of the materials used and the compacting mechanism in the smaller 12″ compactor model is far superior than the updated 15″ model. Not nearly as good as the old Whirlpool that it replaced… I chose the rating based on it’s compression performance. I gave it 2 stars based on it’s nice finish…otherwise I would give it less. A totally different solution with the pullout drawer, after opening a door first and then pulling out the drawer. The start button is lit, but at the very tip top and cannot be seen, because of the counter top without bending over. The crush performance is probably 5% of what I was used to from my 30 yr old Whirlpool. It struggles to crush soda cans and plastic…
Trash compactor–good product, but be careful!!! I have waited to do this review until I had used this compactor for a while. We’ve owned compactors for over 30 years, so, never having had a Broan, I was a bit apprehensive. The unit appears to be stoutly built and does sell for a higher price than some other similar products.
