Could be more rigid. Seems OK for what it does. Don’t really know how it will handle smoke or smells on my ventless hood yet. Installing it, you have to be careful, the frame of this filter is so flimsy or flexible that even to remove the plastic shrink wrap I had to be careful because of flexing, I could see how someone who aggressively opens this wrap could fold the whole thing in half. Installed, one of the edges is bent a bit and I didn’t like how it locks into the fan housing. Seems to have a less positive lock than the screen that came…
This is just a mesh weave filter to help capture grease and other particulates that result from the cooking of food on a range top. This filter snaps into place with no effort at all in the properly sized slot. This screen catches most big fat cooking particulates and many of the smaller ones. Let it soak in hot soapy water for easy clean up. I use this filter in a non-ducted range hood system and it works fine.
