One lever is all that’s required to flip the machine on. Mess maker Despite glowing reviews, I offer a contrarian view …. It boils over and makes a huge mess, which is precisely what we hoped to avoid when we bought a rice cooker. Our water is soft, so I tried bottled water. No effect. I thoroughly washed the rice before cooking it. No effect. Followed the directions to the letter. No effect. 8 years and still going strong. Best rice cooker around. I’ve had this same rice cooker for 8 years, and never had a single problem, despite hundreds of uses (I’ve honestly used this rice cooker at LEAST once a week since I got it). Nothing has malfunctioned or needed to be fixed at all. Even the non-stick basin is just like new, and I wash it in the dish washer every time I use it.
