3 stars because I can take it to my quilting class easily, and for ironing bindings and seams I was excited to use this on my new cutting table, but the heat transfers through, and the cutting mat warps and is drenched. Also, yes, if you iron on the quilted side, the quilting pattern is ironed into the material. So, I started using the flat side of the mat. But, the fabric on the flat side is so loose, it wrinkles underneath the fabric, and once again, those bumps are ironed in. Works great for countertop ironing. Just received this today and it does exactly what I need it to do. I’m so tired of pulling out the ironing board just to iron a quick piece of clothing. So I thought an ironing mat would be a good solution. It’s sized just right for doing a shirt or something quick. You wouldn’t want to try and iron larger items like sheets or curtains with it but it works great for single items and a quick iron. I put the mat on my granite counter top and the heat didn’t transfer from the mat to my countertops…
