Beaters are unbalanced UPDATE FOLLOWS. Excellent mixer, horrible beaters. I received my new 9 speed Kitchenaid mixer replacing a 7 speed Kitchenaid mixer that broke while my wife tried using it to mix a batter thick enough to patch potholes. So that evening I took our new empire red mixer out, attached the beaters, and commenced making mashed potatoes. At speed 5 that mixer was dancing in my hand, hard to hold. Probably would have been just as pleased with the less expensive model I had a 6-Speed Kitchen Aid for about twenty years that was a work-horse so I was sure I wanted another Kitchen Aid again. I researched all the Amazon reviews and decided on the 9-Speed, hoping it would be a little faster.
