This bowl lift model has brackets on the bowl that fit over support pins on the stand mixer, which is than lifted up by a handle on the right side of the mixer to lock the bowl in place while mixing (designed for handling heavy mixtures and large recipes). The dish washer safe, 5-quart polished stainless steel bowl with ergonomic handle is big enough to handle large batches of heavy mixtures. I love my Kitchen Aid. I had an older model KSM50p for 18 Years and it recently stopped working. Once you’re used to using one anything else doesn’t cut it. I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 because I think that the pouring spout should be included in the price just the way it was included with my old one, specially since it has a wider mixing bowl.
