Fixed my problem! I have a White-Westinghouse gas dryer from 1991 and it was having issues. It would fire up initially to warm up the dryer, then the fire would go out like it’s supposed to but it would not come back on. The fire was all orange, too — not blue like you would expect. Old coils had connectivity but were still the cause of my problem… My older Amana natural gas dryer stopped heating the air. After unplugging the unit, I found the electrical schematic inside the controls head compartment. Using my Fluke digital multimeter, I tested the fusible links, temperature sensors, wiring, heater/igniter, and the gas valve coils. I found that the resistance value on one of the coils was significantly higher than the nominal value listed for it in the schematic. Coils worked as expected. Thanks to earlier reviews which aided in my troubleshooting. To help others going forward….Flame came on once and then cycled off when the dryer got up to temperature (~190 degrees). When time to cycle back on the igniter glows, there is a noticeable chattering sound, no gas comes on, and the igniter then turns off. Would let this happen several times with no gas turning on to meet the glowing igniter. Chattering led me to believe it was the coils. Checked them…
