Seems Like a Genuine Part, Works Great 12-5-17I’m reviewing the Flame Sensor by Whirlpool part # 338906.My dryer suddenly stopped heating although the drum was still spinning, so I knew I had to do some diagnosing. I’m an automechanic by trade, but have been known to fix or even modify appliances to repair them. Well, I first disconnected the electrical cord and began “ohming” different components that I know should not be open… such as the coils/solenoids for dryer gas valve, the ignitor, and flame…
This fixed my problem! Genuine OEM part.. This Whirlpool part is the same part used in my Maytag Atlantis dryer. My symptoms were that the igniter would glow, the gas would switch on and the burner would light, but would only stay lit for about 15 seconds before it would turn off. After about 30 seconds, the process would repeat. Clothes would take forever to dry and the timer/cycle knob would never advance.
